A Historic Location with a Modern Twist

San Mateo 6, a historic site and a key location in the “La Movida” movement, now hosts GILDA HAUS, a new project by CODOO STUDIO. The goal was clear: create the next must-visit destination in Madrid. The challenge was to merge various concepts into a single cohesive space, combining the feel of a traditional tavern, the vibe of a classic cocktail bar for after-work gatherings, and the energy of a diverse electronic music DJ scene.

A Versatile Day-to-Night Space

GILDA HAUS is designed to be functional both day and night. It’s a place where patrons can eat, socialize, and dance, adapting to different needs throughout the day. The dynamic design includes various areas that transform from daytime social spaces to vibrant nightlife zones.

Celebrating Madrid’s Spirit

The design pays homage to Madrid’s vibrant lifestyle, inspired by the 1970s work of Gianfranco Frattini. The space reflects the essence of modern Madrid while celebrating its rich cultural history.

The Power of Color

Color is the central element of GILDA HAUS’s design. The space features a 360-degree monochromatic orange theme, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. This orange palette is enhanced by vibrant electric blue and fluorescent orange accents. Different materials, textures, and high-gloss paints interact with the lighting to produce varying nuances, making the space dynamic and engaging.

CODOO STUDIO has successfully created a multifaceted venue that encapsulates the spirit of Madrid, offering a unique and memorable experience from morning till night.
